As the unrest in the England has stretched into its fourth day, retailers in London and around the island are reporting widespread looting and property destruction that has caused many shops to close their doors, some likely for good.
On Tuesday, the British Retail Consortium issued an urgent plea to U.K. authorities to take steps to quell the violence on the streets and offer assurances of support to businesses in the aftermath of the riots and vigorous prosecutions of those responsible for looting and destroying stores and other property.
